What to Watch For: When Your Battery Needs Replacement

• Watch has stopped or is losing more than a few seconds per day
• Second hand is jumping in 4-second intervals (low-battery indicator on many quartz movements)
• Display is dimming or showing ghost segments (digital watches)
• It’s been 2-3 years since the last battery change (average lifespan)

If you wait too long after a watch stops, the old battery can leak potassium hydroxide electrolyte, which corrodes the movement. The cost of a battery replacement (from RM 40) is dramatically less than the cost of cleaning a movement after a battery leak (from RM 350). When in doubt, replace early.

Our Battery Replacement Process

1. Quote and check-in. We confirm the watch model, water-resistance rating, and provide a written quote before opening the case.
2. Case-back removal. For screw-down case backs, we use the correct case opener for your brand to avoid scratching the finish.
3. Movement inspection. We check for battery leak residue, corrosion, or other movement issues before installing the new cell.
4. Battery installation. A premium battery is fitted with proper ESD handling and orientation.
5. Gasket service. If gaskets are compromised, we replace them with OEM-spec seals.
6. Pressure test (where applicable). Dive and sport watches are tested on a Witschi Proofmaster to factory depth.
7. Time and date set. We set your watch to Malaysian time (MYT, UTC+8) and walk you through any complications.
8. Warranty registration. Your 24-month battery warranty is logged against your watch’s serial number.
